Happy Friday fellow sports fans – welcome to the next edition of the PlanetPunter’s blog. I’ll be delving into the weekend’s football with you once again.
So what has changed since we last spoke? The Portuguese have started again! Now admittedly, the league isn’t as strong as it once was. After Mourinho’s all conquering Porto side in 2004, I’d be surprised to see another example of that for some time. But after feeding from the trough of Belarusian football for the past few months, the return of the Primeira League is a steak dinner in comparison.
Portuguese Primeira Liga Betting Tips
What’s more, the league kicks off at a handy time for us in Ghana. The showcase games of the evening tend to kick off at around 8pm GMT. It’s two horse race at the top of the table. Porto & Benfica locked on 60 points each, their nearest chasers Braga well back on 46 points. What’s more, these two giants have already played each other twice this season. It looks like the league will be decided by who holds their nerve. It’d be no surprise to see them both win all their remaining games and the season decided on goal difference.
There’s a couple of bets over the weekend in that division I’m interested in.
Aves vs Belenenses
Firstly, tonight Belenenses travel to CD das Aves. The away team arrive as a favourite for the first time this season. They’re in fine form and have accumulated 30.77% of their season total points in the last 4 games. Being one of the divisions lowest scoring teams (average 0.79 goals per game) they rely heavily on their solid defence. I fancy them to continue their excellent form this evening and win to nil on the road @ 3.85.
Boavista vs Moreirense
Then on Saturday night – winless in their last 4 matches Boavista host Moreirense.
The home team have beaten Moreirense each of the last 3 times they’ve met at Estadio do Bessa Seculo. The away team are one of the poorest travelling sides in the league and have managed just one win from their 12 away matches this season. I fancy the home side to take this one comfortably @ 2.49.
Bundesliga Betting Tips
Onto the main division, the German Bundesliga.
Last week, I tipped you all Bayern Munich to win -3.5 goals @ 2.41 and the Bavarian giants didn’t let us down – thrashing their way to a 5-0 home win.
Bayer Leverkusen vs Bayern Munich
This week they travel to in-form Bayer Leverkusen. Although I fancy Munich to win the game easily in the end, the home team are the league highest scorers in the first 30 minutes. Their 32 goals before the half hour mark leads the way in the Bundesliga which shows me that they fly out of the stalls.
I fancy Leverkusen to score the first goal @ 3.45. Bayern Munich have won their last 8 games, but they’ve had to wait until the 40th minute or later to score a goal in 50% of those matches.
The last six head to heads between those two sides have averaged 2.17 first half goals. I will also be backing Over 1.5 Goals in the first half @ 1.88. This is a great value bet.
There’s plenty of football to be getting on with this weekend and Portugal’s next door neighbours Spain are back in action next week. I’ll be back then to run through more of the best punting action from the world of football.
Stay safe and be lucky again this weekend with the PlanetPunter!
